Messy Play Mondays is run by A Fine Mess – a team of local parents with many years experience working with young children, seeking to broaden the scope of creative activities on offer for the Under 5s in North London.
We currently host two Messy Play groups every week. Please note that at the moment they are run slightly differently however this will change in the new year (details to follow soon).

What age is this session for?
Our drop in Messy Play sessions are aimed at the Under 5s – from babies and crawlers to toddlers and little runners.
Do I stay with my child?
Yes. Parents and carers are entirely responsible for their children at all times during the session. We will be too busy providing lots of additional messy resources throughout the session whilst ensuring the messy zone is safe.
What happens in the session?
We will provide a selection of sensory activities each week using non toxic paints, foams and other ultimate mess making materials. Your child can then spend their time exploring each area for as long or little as the like. They can even mix it up: if they want to pour the scented oats from one tray into the paint tubs then that’s fine.
Do I need to stay for the duration of the session?
You can stay for as long as your little one wants to. We’ve noticed that our littlest messy makers usually like around 35 minutes of play, whereas our older ones will hang on until the end.
What should my child wear?
Anything you don’t mind being covered in paint! It is advisable to bring a change of clothes, wet wipes and a towel for when you leave.
Do I have to book?
You can drop into our sessions, however we do fill up very quickly so advance booking strongly recommended.
You can book via the online app HOOP at http://hoop.co.uk/a-fine-mess-uk/ completing the form or via paypal: www.paypal.me/AFineMessUK, If you pay via paypal please quote the date and time you are booking, your child’s name, age and if any anyone attending has allergies.
What happens if a session is cancelled?
We will contact everyone who has booked in good time in order to ease any disruption to your day. You will be offered a full refund or option to swap to an alternative date. For this reason please ensure your contact details are up to date.
Will my child like messy play?
All children like different levels of mess. This is why we don’t have activities they must do during this session. They are gently encouraged to do what and how they want. It may take a couple of sessions for some to settle in. Also children are very good at picking up on your worries so please come to us with a relaxed attitude towards the mess. And remember you don’t need to tidy up!
